BIO
PETER KERLIN is a musician, artist, and teacher. His ongoing musical projects include Source of Yellow, Christmas Decorations, Christy & Emily, and his solo project, Snake Eats Electric Blanket. As a musician Peter has also performed, recorded, and collaborated with Chris Forsyth, Ryan Sawyer, the Holy Childhood, Chris Peck, Ted Leo, Mike Pride, Nate Wooley, Susan Alcorn, Jon Moniaci, Walter Martin, Mac St. Michael, and others. Peter is the audio engineer for the bi-weekly contemporary art podcast, Radio Visual. Recently he recorded Pianist/Composer Emily Manzo's score for The Rooms, a film by Paul Rowley and Tim Blue. Peter is currently creating video and sound components for Samuel Topiary's play, Landscape with The Fall of Icarus, directed by dance artist Miguel Gutierez. The work had its debut at Dixon Place in May 2010 and will be remounted for a two week run at Abron's Art Center in November, 2010. Peter has been collaborating with his wife, choreographer, Anna Sperber, creating sound and video accompaniment since 2003. Their evening length work, The Tiger Situation, was presented in 2007 at Dance Theater Workshop. Their video, Between Scans (2008), was featured in issue 5 of the online magazine, Triple Canopy. In 2005 He worked as a video associate for The Builders Association on their multi-media theater work Supervision. Peter holds a BA in Film and Video from RISD and a Masters from the Interactive Telecommunications Program(ITP) at NYU where he has worked as an adjunct professor. Peter taught Multimedia Design and Animation at the City College of New York in the Electronic Design and Multimedia Department.
